We got a message from Dr. White
(Jadon’s and Kalina’s orthopedic doctor) on Tuesday morning saying the MRI had
been reviewed. While her curvature is
improving, it looks as though her spinal cord may be more at risk. Her information was sent to a doctor in
Finland to get his opinion on the matter. On Wednesday we learned that the doctor in
Finland recommends just following her to see what happens.
We asked why her spinal cord has
become more at risk and is appears that her spinal canal is a little narrower
than on her last MRI. She will continue
to be checked every six months unless she shows early signs on spinal cord
damage (like worsening balance and hand strength, or decreased urinary
frequency). Neurologically, she checks
out fine so we pray this continues and that a medical intervention will not be
required.
Luckily, she has no restrictions
on her movement, except no somersaults. J
This is just a reminder to us
that you can’t see everything on x-rays.
The MRIs, as much as we don’t like putting her under anesthesia a lot, are
worth it to make sure she is ok.
We are thankful for the good news
we received but would appreciate prayers that her spinal canal would not narrow
anymore and that her spinal cord and all neurologic functions would remain stable.
