It is more difficult to update the blog as life returns to normal. Things just don't sound as interesting when there are no hospital visits... :-)
On Wednesday, Jadon made it through his first full day of school since the surgery. He has amazed us with how quickly he is recovering. While it is warm and confining, the back brace helps him feel stable and keeps him from tiring as quickly. He continues to be free from issues with his neck and can hold his head up like a champ. That is certainly an answer to prayer.
Grandma Fry left on Tuesday morning and we feared that Kalina would go into a funk. She had a constant playmate for over a month and was suddenly left alone with her boring parents and limited-mobility brother. Her bubbly personality has still shone through. It helped that school resumed on Monday because she had been counting down each of the 11 days off she had from preschool over the Thanksgiving/teacher conference period. She had a new friend join her class and she gives us an update each day on how he is doing. She loves to greet us my screaming DAAAAAAAAAD! or MOOOOOOOOOOM! whenever we get home.
Today our Uncle Art comes to visit for 10 days. His visits always help get us out of the house and with an entire week without rain in the forecast (yes, you read that right, no rain for an entire week in the month of December in Seattle) we have lots of holiday options to consider.
We got our tree and Christmas decorations put up on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Kalina told us that the house looked beautiful. The first night she wanted to fall asleep lying next to the tree. Holidays are so much more fun with kids around to add to the excitement and to remind you of the reason that we stop our hectic lives and take the time to celebrate the special day.
Thanks for the update, I was wondering how Jadon's recovery was going. I'm glad that everythings is fine :)
ReplyDeleteI agree: Christmas is so much better with children around, especially if they are full of life as your girl is.
