One Month

Jadon is having a hard time getting comfortable at night.  He still wakes frequently to get turned.

We had a quiet morning.  Jadon was tired so he rested and dozed a lot and he watched a little bit of a movie.  He was happy to see Andy, Kalina and Uncle Frank this morning.

Jadon had a chest x-ray early this morning.  It showed that his lung is doing better.  He was allowed to come off his CPAP for 3 one hour trials.  He did pretty well.  We are trying to determine if he still needs extra oxygen or if he still needs extra pressure support (CPAP).

The PICU doctors seemed pleased with his progress.  They were considering possibly transferring him to the floor today (now the pulmonary floor, not the surgical floor).  Dr. White did not really like that idea and insisted that he stay in the ICU again tonight.  He really wants Jadon to be closely watched.

The general surgery team came to see Jadon.  They decided to stop the suction on his chest tube.  For most of the day it was just allowed to gravity drain.  The amount of drainage throughout the day was not very significant.  He had another chest x-ray late this afternoon.  It looked good so Jadon's chest tube was removed this evening.   One less tube is always good news for Jadon.

Kalina is enjoying playing with Uncle Frank.  She can convince him to do pretty much anything.

Jadon has been at Children's one month now.  Sometimes it seems longer and sometimes it seems shorter.  We are so thankful for the prayers, love, support and help we have received.  We are also thankful for this place, Children's Hospital, and the great people here that help care for Jadon, Kalina and us.
