Another month, another birthday!

November started with another birthday.  Jadon turned 11!  Wow is pretty much all I can say.  He is growing up before our eyes.  Maybe one day he’ll understand the significance of what that means.  He had an early release day from school on his birthday and a small party in the afternoon.  He requested a Darth Vader cake and I had fun creating it for him.  He has some really great friends that he has known for many years.  It is fun to see them mature into young adults.

Jadon and Kalina had some appointments in November.  Most notably was audiology.  They love seeing their audiologist.  She works so well with them.  Jadon had some significant hearing changes noted at his appointment in the summer.  Unfortunately, just after that appointment (2 days after) he got an ear infection.  We didn’t know if the changes were real or caused by his infection.  His appointment in November was consistent with the summer results.  His hearing aids were adjusted and we were left wondering why his hearing had changed (it had been relatively stable for a while).

We enjoyed the Veteran’s Day assembly at Woodmoor.  It featured the fifth graders singing several songs.  Jadon had been looking forward to it for a while (maybe years).  He and his classmates did a fabulous job.  We love how Woodmoor takes time to honor our Veterans.

Early in the month we guests at the Monroe Rotary Barn Dance and Auction.  The Monroe Rotary is a huge sponsor of the Miracle League.  We were invited to attend and speak on behalf of the Miracle League families.  It was a great honor to be asked to attend.  We had a wonderful time, I just wish I could have kept it together a little more during my speech (I get pretty emotional).

We had a nice Thanksgiving at our house.  We invited two of Andy’s colleagues who are new to the area.  We had 6 adults, 6 kids, lots of food and lots of fun.

We enjoyed some early holiday activities like the parade in downtown Seattle and getting our Christmas tree.  Jadon and Kalina were a big helping picking our tree.  Kalina really got into the decorating this year.  If you looked close at the tree, you could probably tell we had some help.  J  Just the way I like it.
