We returned from Park City and had a relatively quiet week. Jadon went to the eye doctor and got a new
prescription for his glasses. We also
did the Run for Children’s. Like usual,
Andy ran the 10k while Jadon, Kalina and I walked the 5k. We had pretty good weather and always enjoy
supporting a great cause.
The following week Uncle Art arrived. Jadon and Kalina were excited to see
him. Jadon woke around 5:15 am the day
he arrived and Kalina woke shortly after that! We got Uncle Art for the airport and headed
downtown. We had lunch and then went on
a tour of Safeco Field (where the Seattle Mariners play baseball). We were the only four in our tour group so
it was like we had our own personal tour guide.
We really enjoyed it!
The next day we went to the Museum of History and Industry
followed by lunch at Duke’s – one of Uncle Art’s favorite places.
The next day we went to Mount Saint Helen’s. It is a long drive to the actual mountain but
we really wanted to do it so off we went.
The view from Johnston Ridge Observatory is amazing. We enjoyed the visitors’ center, a ranger
talk and walking around, except the swarm of weird flying insects that got us
back to the minivan in a hurry! We had lunch part way down the mountain – a place
with a spectacular view.
The next day we went to the Evergreen State Fair in
Monroe. Jadon and Kalina enjoyed it a
lot more than the last time we went (several years ago). We
saw lots of animals (including some friends’ goats), a lumberjack show, pig
races and play miniature golf.
We spent much longer there than I anticipated we would but it just because
we were all having a good time.
The next day was quieter.
We watched the movie 42. Jadon
liked it (he has read some books about Jackie Robinson). Andy and Uncle Art went wine tasting. We went to dinner and a jazz concert. Unfortunately, the concert was by the water
(beautiful setting) so it was chilly!
Uncle Art listed to about half the concert while we walked by the
water.
The next day we had an LPA meeting. Uncle Art helped with a little yard work and
then spent the day downtown.
The next day our adventures took us to eastern
Washington. We went to Wenatchee for the
day. We visited and ate lunch at the new
public marker there. We went for a nice walk
along the Columbia River.
Uncle art left later the next day, but not before playing
chess with Jadon one more time.
We always enjoy Uncle Art’s visits. He helps get us out and about, seeing and
doing new things. J
