Camp Prov

The week of July 15th, Jadon and Kalina attended Camp Prov.  Camp Prov is a week-long camp that meets for 3 hours in the morning or afternoon at Forest Park in Everett.  It is run the Providence Children’s Center.

This is Jadon’s eighth year attending Camp Prov and Kalina fourth year.  Wow – time flies!

Jadon always enjoys hanging out with his buddy for the week.  He had another great one this year.  He really enjoyed “officiating” the “Olympic races” on Friday.  He also liked the crafts and music.  Jadon looks forward to this camp every year.

Kalina loved camp, too.  She had a sweet buddy and her favorite activity each day was swimming.  Luckily, there is a little wading pool there that is just the right size for Kalina.  She can sit on the steps and enjoy playing in the water.  We had beautiful weather – perfect swimming conditions.  She also enjoyed visiting the animal farm.   Three goats were very interested in her scooter.  They surrounded her and sniffed for a long time.   Kalina thought that was pretty funny.

On to more adventures…

  1. Hello!
I'm glad you have a nice summer!
I apologize for my ignorance, but is it possible to swim with a trachoestomy? How does it work?

    1. Hi!
No, you can not swim with a trach. You can not submerge the neck/trach area because the hole (stoma) where the trach goes into the neck is not water-tight. If you get water in the stoma or trach, it goes right to your lungs. Kalina calls what she does swimming but she really just sits on the step, like she is in the bathtub. When we are on vacation, Andy will carry her in a pool and she calls that swimming, too. She loves being in the water - bathtub, shower, pool. :-)
