Friday, October 12 was a very
special day because… Kalina got her
scooter! We did not tell her we were
going to get it until Thursday night. I
don’t think I have ever seen her so excited.
We got to Olympic Pharmacy in Gig
Harbor just before our 10 AM appointment.
Kalina saw her scooter and started crying. I thought she didn’t like it but she was so
happy she was crying. She got right on
it and we took it for a spin. Actually,
we took it for a spin for about 45 minutes while Jadon’s scooter horn was
fixed. We drove around the pharmacy and
attached building. She did a great
job.
Last Saturday Kalina took her
scooter to the Camp Korey fall festival and camper reunion. She loved the freedom of going where she
wanted to go, when she wanted to go. She
is fearless and drove her scooter full speed down a small paved road covered
with chestnuts. She hit one and her
basket popped off her scooter and she drove down the embankment by the side of
the road. She coat was muddy (she drove
over it when it fell out her basket) and she was a little shaken but she was
fine after I got her back on the road.
Kalina took her scooter to school
on Monday to show everyone. She is a
little nervous driving around a lot of people, especially kids, but she did a
great job, again. Thursday at school,
her nurse and therapist took her on a scooter obstacle course to give her a
little more practice and confidence driving at school.
She drives amazingly well. She is obviously a visual learner and has
learned a lot from watching Jadon.
Kalina drove her scooter around
Home Depot on Saturday and she took it to church and an LPA meeting today.
Jadon is also excited Kalina has
her scooter. They have already raced. It is so cute to see them driving side by
side.
