One step closer

They moved Jadon out of the ICU at 3:00 PM back to Giraffe floor 3.  This time we are in room G3004 looking out at a loading dock with lots of trees.  Kalina loves the window and spent the first 5 minutes in the room looking for birds, bugs, and airplanes.

This morning, Ember took Kalina (and Uncle Frank) to school.  While they were gone, Jadon rested and watched some of the Clone Wars season 1 on TV.  We had great nurses on the ICU and so we asked if we could stay long enough for them to remove some of Jadon's lines.  He got one IV, his arterial line and his catheter removed today.  With the help of the RT we also changed his trach.  He is beginning to look like himself again.

We are committed to managing his pain better this time and met with the pain management service to come up with a plan for his medicines.  He seems comfortable right now but is still groggy and getting enough hydromorphone that he is not very aware of what is going on around him.  He is aware enough to smile each time something comes off and we got a big smile when we told him we were leaving the ICU.

We don't know how long it will take until we are discharged to go home.  I am predicting that it may be as early as Friday or as late as Monday depending on his progress.  FYI, the Wii is hooked up in the new room for when Jadon is ready...
