Jadon had a restless night as he adjusted to the halo. He said it felt like his head was floating, which of course, it is. The pain seems under better control today and now it is more about adjusting to stay comfortable in bed.
Dr. White and Dr. Song came by around 11:30 AM and started Jadon's traction. He now has 7 pounds pulling while he is in bed. Tomorrow we will try to have him spend some time in the wheelchair with more weight. The goal is to work him up to around 20 pounds as the normal weight while he is here. They would like him to sit for 8 to 10 hours a day which is 7 to 9 hours more than he has been for the past two months. We will likely stay on the surgical floor for about a week before moving to the rehab floor.
I was the hero today when i brought the Wii from home and hooked it up. The biggest smile of the day came when Jadon saw it. Jadon has been playing Lego Star Wars for the past 3 hours, stopping only for brief breaks to eat and adjust postion.
Kalina's nurse had a family emergency today so Grandma got to go to school with her. Kalina was very excited to introduce Grandma to all of her friends. Ember was able to go home for a few hours this afternoon. While she has been gone, Jadon's final IV was removed, traction was started, Jadon's clothes were changed, and he started playing the Wii. I wonder if she will recognize him when she gets back.
Jadon's has only one message for all of you. I WANT VISITORS! Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers.
