Thursday News

We had another pretty quiet day here.

Kalina and Grandma arrived around 9 AM.  Kalina would not let Grandma get her dressed so she came in her jammies.

Jadon got a surprise package this morning.  It was a fun new Wii game from Uncle Adam and Aunt Allison.  Of course, he had to play some right away.

Jadon's first visitor, Sandy (a Woodmoor parent and PTSA mom), came to visit while Jadon and I were getting an x-ray.  She brought lots of cool books for Jadon and Kalina to borrow.  I am so glad they both enjoy reading so much.  They always have and I hope they always will.  It really helps to pass the time some days.

Kalina and I left Jadon and Grandma and went to school.  Yes, I did manage to get her dressed.  Kalina had a great day with her friends.  She usually seems a little sad on Fridays when she does not get to go to school.  I went to Costco while she was in school.

While Kalina and I were gone Jadon got visits from Alayne, Jenine and Jody.  He got another surprise package from a mystery person containing some fun things.  He and Grandma also read and figured out how to help him write with a slant board (thanks, Jenine).  Now, he has completed all the math assignments he has.  We are waiting to get his school computer so he can work on his writing assignments, which he has started on that computer.

On our way back to the hospital, we got an Uncle Peteza's pizza for Jadon (a place right by our house and one of Jadon's favorite pizza places).  Unfortunately, he had to wait until after PT to eat.  I guess he got a good workout today because he and Kalina ate about half a pizza!

We don't have much planned for tomorrow.  We seem to have lots of stuff here to help keep us all occupied.  Jadon does have some visitors coming later in the day.  He is looking forward to that.

We are planning our first off-campus trip on Saturday.  We are getting a "day pass" to leave the hospital to go to Monster Bash.  It should be fun!  We can only take Jadon places we can walk.  Andy did a trail run of the path to get to Monster Bash and deemed it doable.  Here is a little article I found about it.

Susannah White's Three Feet of Sunshine, a Seattle Children’s Hospital guild benefiting the Pediatric Advanced Care Team, is hosting a family-friendly Halloween event on Saturday, Oct. 22, called the "Monster Bash." It will be an opportunity for children, and adults, to wear their costumes and participate in a fun, safe Halloween event.

The Monster Bash will be held on the grounds of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, located at 4805 N.E. 45th St. (behind Seattle Children’s) from 3 to 7 p.m. The $13 "fright fee" includes pony rides, a haunted house, dancing, pumpkin decorating, Trophy Cupcakes and other goodies, games and crafts. Bring a new, unused costume for a Seattle Children's patient and receive a special gift.

Three Feet of Sunshine raises awareness and funds to provide opportunities and extend support programs devoted to pediatric patients with potentially life-threatening illnesses. The guild was inspired by the life of Susannah White, who was a patient at Seattle Children's for one year, and the special care she received by the Pediatric Advanced Care Team.

Wishing everyone a great Friday!
