A Great Day

Jadon had a great day.  A better night's sleep had to help.

We decided to stop the anti-nausea medicine today.  It seems that was the cause of his nausea yesterday afternoon and evening.  We think his body did not adjust well to the change from IV medicine to oral medicine.  Jadon was able to eat today without incident or any complaint of feeling sick.  Yeah!

We had a visit from the therapist this morning around 10:30 AM.  We adjusted the traction wheelchair and we got Jadon sitting upright.  He was very nervous and for valid reasons.  He has not sat upright for more than about 45 minutes since mid-July.  He did not think he had the strength to do it.  He managed to sit for close to 2 hours.  Our first walk was to the ICU.  We had to deliver a little magnet dress that belonged to the little girl we met who was in halo traction before Jadon.  We found it stuck to the wheelchair.  Her halo was removed on Monday and she is  recovering from her back surgery.  We also took a walk to radiology for some x-rays.  Every time the traction weight is changed, Jadon will need x-rays to check how things are going.  Today was the first of many.  Luckily, Jadon has outgrown his dislike for x-rays.

We had about 2 hours of rest and were back in the wheelchair this afternoon.  By this time we had confirmation that Jadon no longer needs to wear his turtle brace.  We knew he didn't need to wear it while in bed but there was some concern about his back stability while transferring and sitting.  Jadon decided to surprise Grandma and Kalina and we met them by the elevators when they got here this afternoon.  Jadon sitting upright in the wheelchair with no brace was quite a sight (thanks for the picture Jody).  We managed to walk outside so Jadon could get some fresh air.  I thought at any moment he would plead with me to walk him all the way home.  He managed to stay in the wheelchair for about 2 hours again.

Jadon had plenty of visitors today, making him very happy.  Our Children's friends Cassie, Jenine and Julie all came to visit.  We also had visits from Katie & Devon (who did great playing the Wii for the first time with Jadon), Jody (we are going to love doing the project she brought for us), Elki (she brought Jadon the biggest balloons I have ever seen), and Jayne & Josh (who brought us a delicious dinner and Josh was a great Wii playing buddy).

Here's to a good night and another great day tomorrow.

Thank you all for your continued prayers, love and support.
