Jadon has his first sleepover
this weekend. His friend Matthew came to
visit. Matthew is also a little person
and he is a year older than Jadon. He
lives in Olympia, WA (about 1 ½ hours from us) so we don’t get to see him too
much. Matthew didn’t have school on
Friday so Kalina and I met him, his mom and sister in south Seattle and brought
Matthew home with us. Matthew happily
played with Kalina for the hour we waited for Jadon to come home. The boys had a lot of fun playing the Wii and
having light saber duals. On Saturday
morning, we all went to basketball.
Matthew played and I think he had a great time. He made some awesome shots!
After basketball, we met two of their
other little people friends for lunch at Uncle Peteza’s. The four boys had a good time seeing each
other. It was nice to be able to get
them together. We are hoping to do it
some more in the future. As Jadon says, “how
often do I get to see other little people?” (besides Kalina, of course, but he
forgets that sometimes). It does not
matter to them that they have different kinds of dwarfism (all four boys have a
different kind); they just like being with friends. We met Matthew’s mom for dinner Saturday
night.
I realized Kalina was feeling a
little left out of the fun. She considers
pretty much everyone her friend and snuggled next to Matthew on the couch while
the boys played the Wii. Friday night
she declared she loved Matthew and wanted to sleep downstairs with the boys. I did manage to get her upstairs with me. I thought perhaps on Saturday afternoon, she
and I could leave the house, giving Jadon, Matthew and Andy some guy time. Kalina refused to leave “her boys” (all three
of them) so we stayed home and just played in another room. She was good with that.
What a fun time we all had!
