Jadon had a better night. Maybe it was because Grandma was there with him. He did send me a text message around 1:30 AM and he called at 6 AM asking why Kalina and I had yet to arrive. That was a clear indication he was feeling better. When he called he told me he was just going to tell the doctors he was ready to go home. I reminded him that the pulmonary doctors had to discharge him, not the ortho ones. So, this morning he asked everyone who came in his room if they were with pulmonary because he was ready to go home. J Apparently, they got the picture. We got the news late this morning that we could go home.
Before hearing the news, a person from orthotics came to look at Jadon’s brace (he told his nurse to call them because he needed to see them early this morning). She had it adjusted in no time.
We spent the morning playing and packing. Kalina was not 100% so we decided to keep her home from school today. It worked out well because we slowly packed and loaded our minivan, while all the discharge papers, etc. were done.
Jadon and I took a walk and said good bye and thank you to some of his nurses on the rehab and surgical floors. Everyone commented on how good he looked. Some of them had never met Jadon pre-halo.
We left Children’s around 2:20 PM. It was hard for me not to cry tears of joy.
We had an uneventful ride home. We almost didn’t have room for Jadon with all out stuff. Jadon tried to convince me to go to his school to say hi. J
We unloaded and had a nice rest of the day at home. Jadon was smiling all day. Kalina is thrilled to have Jadon home. She keeps insisting he is going to school with her tomorrow.
Andy missed the homecoming excitement since he was in Chicago today. I think he will be happy to return later tonight to a full house. I think we are all going to have a good night’s sleep.
Jadon wanted me to let everyone know he would still love visitors. I am not sure how much he will be going out right now. We need to work on getting him strong enough to sit and hopefully ride scooter soon.
Thank you all again for your prayers, love, and support.
