Park City July 2014

After being home just four nights, we began our next adventure – road trip to Park City, Utah! 

We left around 9:30 PM on Thursday night.  We like to drive through the night.  Jadon and Kalina sleep well in the minivan so we might as well take advantage of that.  Andy drove until around 1:30 AM.  Then, I drove until we got to Nampa, Idaho, around 6:30 AM.  Andy and I refueled with Starbucks and we kept driving.  Jadon and Kalina woke around 8 AM.  They had breakfast in the minivan.  We made it to Utah for lunch.  We stopped for more coffee in Salt Lack City.  The brother of a friend of ours owns a coffee shop there.  We had a delicious vanilla lavender latte!  We did some grocery shopping before arriving at our hotel, the Waldorf Astoria.   After dinner, we got to visit the pool.

On Saturday we went to Utah Olympic Park and watched an aerial acrobatics show (people practicing ski jumps off ramps into a pool).  We had seen it on a previous visit but Jadon and Kalina didn’t remember.  After lunch we did a little shopping at the outlet mall.  We spent the rest of the day chillaxing (our favorite word for this vacation) at the hotel. 

Sunday was our 18^th anniversary.  Happy Anniversary to us!  We went to the Park City Silly Sunday Market and Farmer’s Market in the morning.  We took a drive and got Jadon and Kalina each a LEGO.  We had a nice lunch at The Cheesecake Factory before returning to the hotel for LEGO building and more relaxing.  We enjoyed a nice dinner to end our anniversary day.

We had a very quiet Monday.  Andy and Kalina played in the pool for about an hour or so.  We ate lunch by the pool.  Then, a little more time in the pool.  Jadon got a lot of reading done and he had lots of time to play on his iPad/computer.  Kalina didn’t want her water time to end so she took her floatie in the bathtub when we got back to the room.  She played in the tub for about another hour!  We had delicious Mexican food for dinner.  Then, back to the pool.  I went in the pool with Kalina this time.  We also went in the hot tub.  Jadon and Kalina made us s’mores at the poolside fire.  What a nice, relaxing, day.

We left Park City around 8:30 AM on Tuesday morning.  We had lunch in Twin Falls and made it to Kennewick, WA for pizza at Hubby’s for dinner (one of Jadon’s favorite places).  We completed our drive and got home around 11 PM.  Jadon and Kalina had fallen asleep in the car but woke when we brought them in the house.  They both snuggled on Jadon’s bed, with Venus between them.

We always enjoy our visits to Park City (that is why we have gone so many times) but we think we may try someplace new next year.  Park City seems to be getting busier and more crowded (maybe because we were there on a weekend this year).  We’ll see what adventures await us next summer.
