October

October.  October.  Hummm.  What happened in October?

Well, Kalina turned 6!  She was a little bummed because she did not have school on her birthday (or that week due to conferences) but she did manage to have a couple small gatherings of friends throughout the week.  It is pretty easy to shop for Kalina these days – she likes just about anything.  She has the most opinions on clothes, but she always has.

Jadon officially started band. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, he is playing percussion.  He seems to be enjoying it and he is good (I don’t think I am being biased J).

Jadon and Kalina played SKIP (Special Kids in Play) basketball again and had fun.  Jadon is getting good at dribbling the ball.  They have both improved with their shooting.

We attended Monster Bash again, too.  Jadon wore his Yoda costume and Kalina went as Venelope (from Wreck it Ralph).  Kalina enjoyed riding the ponies, like usual.

We also went to the Fall Festival at Camp Korey.  Jadon will attend pretty much any event if it involves Camp Korey.  He is so happy just to go and see Camp.  How many weeks until summer camp?

Kalina had her first field trip to a farm.  They got to pick pumpkins and do other fun stuff.  It was a little chilly but everyone had a good time.

Halloween was fun.  Kalina was sick the day before Halloween and still wasn’t 100% on Halloween so she missed school and her Halloween party.  Jadon had a fun class party.  His Yoda costume is always a big hit.  By the evening Kalina was feeling better.  Jadon and Kalina like to stay home and answer the door.  We keep a tally of how many trick-or-treaters we get each year (for the record, we usually get between 30 and 36).  Jadon and Kalina have never been trick-or-treating, nor have they ever wanted to go – until this year.  Have I mentioned that they don’t’ like candy (except Kalina likes some lollipops)?  After answering the door for a little while, Kalina decided she wanted to go.  So, off she and I went.  It was beautiful here – unseasonably warm.  I carried her since all the houses on our street have stairs to get to the door.  She didn’t mind, except she didn’t have the car part of her costume.  We went to a few houses and came home to report to Andy and Jadon how much fun it was.  We went to a few more houses before calling it a night.   She loved sorting what she got and had fun gifting her candy to Andy and me.  What a sweetie!
