Here is a guest post from Jadon.
I want to say how proud I am of
Kalina. She went to her Power Mobility appointment. She did GREAT. They said,
“She will get a scooter.” Good job, K! She is becoming more like, um, someone I
know…J.
A little while ago she said “Who wants to do the honor of taking me potty?”
Funny. So, you know how proud I am of Kalina. I am Really Proud.
As Jadon mentioned, Kalina went to Children’s on Monday for a power
mobility appointment. This appointment
evaluates someone’s need for power mobility.
We thought Kalina was ready for a scooter but it is much better to go
through the process of having professionals do an evaluation. The therapist and equipment rep we saw both
agreed that Kalina is scooter ready. What am I going to do with two kiddos driving
scooters! They were very impressed with
her driving skills. Jadon has been
teaching her and he did a great job. Honestly,
she is a much better driver than I thought she would be. She has learned a lot from watching Jadon and,
like I said, he did a great job teaching her the rest.
Now, the waiting begins.
Letters of justification will be written and submitted to our insurance.
Historically, our insurance will take as
long as they are allowed to review our request.
Then it will have to go to the secondary insurance. Who knows when Kalina will actually get a
scooter. Kalina is so excited. For
those of you wondering, yes, she still rides her bike (and loves it). The scooter meets a different need and that
is for going longer distances at a faster pace.
Here are some pictures of her learning how to drive.

Here she goes!
She even knows to look behind her!
Climbing on and off scooter is doable with a yoga block.
Driving to the mailbox.
She is such a cool driver ;)
