He still had a pretty restless night. I think that is going to be the norm for a while.
He woke in good spirits. Andy, Kalina, Frank and Grandma Fry arrived after breakfast. Jadon was cleaned and dressed and ready for a good day.
He had a chest x-ray early this morning. The results were good. He still has a little fluid on one side on his lung but it is not getting any worse. His morning lab results were good so his doctors said his central line could be removed. It took a while for the IV team to arrive to remove it but it was out by ~ 2 PM.
Once his central line was removed we could try Jadon’s new back brace on him. It looks like the old one it is just now molded to his new shape. He tried it on and was promptly taken to get a back x-ray via wheelchair. This was his first time sitting since surgery. He looked great and must have felt good because he lasted sitting for about an hour! He did not want to return to his room so we went for a few short walks.
We were really surprised and impressed with his neck strength. It is weak but he did manage to hold it up pretty much by himself to go to the restroom. Go Jadon!
Speaking of restroom, Jadon has that task checked off his list of things to do before going home. J
Kalina found a play house on the medical floor and declared it hers. She, Uncle Frank and Grandma spent a lot of time there today. She decided she would like one for Christmas.
Jadon and Kalina were sad to say goodbye to Uncle Frank. We’ll have to have him visit again soon so he gets some non-hospital time with Jadon.
Andy left for Chicago tonight. He returns late tomorrow night. Due to this situation, we decided it was best for Grandma to stay with Jadon tonight. I am home with Kalina for another girls’ night.
I talked to Jadon tonight and he told me he is just going to tell the doctors he is ready to go home tomorrow. I am sure he will. We know he needs to see the orthotics people about his brace tomorrow (it needs a little adjusting) but we can’t think of too much more we think he needs to accomplish before heading home. Kalina keeps saying she can’t wait to take Jadon home. She also decided Jadon could go to school with her if he is not ready to go to his school. She told him there is even a couch in her room so he could rest. What a sweetie.
Yesterday evening we had a visit from Julie and today Karen stopped by to visit.
This hospital stay has been a long road for all of us and it affects each of us differently each day. We all hope this part of our journey will soon come to an end.
